PGN Viewer
If you have the PGN or algebraic notation to hand (like the example below) you can type or paste it into the vertical dialogue box on the right of the chess board. You should then be able to play through the game using the controls below the chess board.
The games archive on this site contains files which have extraneous PGN information which means that they cannot be read directly by this viewer. However, as with other PGN files, you can download them to your computer and then open them with a simple text editor (e.g. Notepad in Windows, by using right-click to select the alternative menu, selecting "Open with..." and then choosing Notepad from the list of software available).
Thanks to Lutz Tautenhahn for his code (see his homepage or his PGN Viewer help page).
Example PGN Game
Here is a game in PGN format. The PGN Viewer above will not cope with the prefatory information in square brackets (whereas Fritz etc., can). Make sure that information is absent from the dialogue box and the rest should work fine. Incidentally, this is a game played by one of our members, Duncan Badham.
